Is it a bar? Is it a 1970s home? Or is it a stylish seventies cocktail bar? Honey, she’s all three in one. The trifecta of vintage décor, delish pizza and even better cocktails.
Hidden on the high street in West Hempstead, Bobby Fitzpatrick is not located in the usual “hip” areas of London. You need to go a little out of the way if you are staying central, but a tube ride later and the experience is completely worth it. This seventies time capsule perfectly exports you to the era of iconic music, fashion and design. An incredible visual experience enhanced with a soundtrack to make your ears melt - If you're in the market for a complete seventies experience, Bobby's is your place!
I had been to Bobby’s before, but post lockdown I longed to return. I haven’t found a bar that has captured the seventies style quite as well as Bobby Fitzpatrick. As you enter the ground-floor level of the bar, you are sent back in time immediately.
Moving downstairs to the basement via the most glorious staircase, you’ll find bar number two and a levelled-up offering of seventies décor, from retro wallpaper to the most gorgeous seventies style sofa and seating areas. The lighting and design of this space makes me feel like I have been transported into a private party that would have been hosted by Daisy Jones, or Jimi Hendrix. Where only the coolest, most exclusive would hang. I imagine smoke filling the room and London’s coolest cat’s telling stories of their latest album releases with women dancing in flares and platform shoes and drinking martini’s.
Bobby Fitzpatrick is an absolute gem find amidst the monotomy of current ‘trendy’ spaces. You know the ones- exposed brickwork, neon and really over-priced drinks. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a neon, but I also need to give credit to this refreshing experience. One that is affordable, exciting and different to anything else you’ll find right now. Whether you are a seventies fan or not, I could not recommend this BFP enough.
P.S. Before anyone wonders – this wasn’t a gifted experience, or an ad. Just the ramblings of my own thoughts and result of an amazing night out!
