Lush, Southampton

Step inside the doors of one of the most scrumptious shops in our city...

Tucked away in the lower end of the high street you will find our Lush store. Just like Shakira's boobs, our Southampton store is small and humble in size, but not in presence.

As if Lush needs any introduction...
To accommodate those of you who may have been living under a rock, or on a desert island for the past twenty years, Lush are a company who make and sell fresh, handmade beauty products and cosmetics that are 100% vegetarian. Along with making the loveliest of products, they are also made with love and morals. Lush are advocates for fighting against animal testing and ensure the buying of their ingredients are ethically sourced. They really are all types of good.

For those who are well aware of/ are known to repeatedly visit their local stores/ know the staff on a first-name-basis, this is a celebration of a company that we all know and love.
Being obsessed with colour, interior design and Lush products; for me, this blog post was a no-brainer.

Lets get to it...
For those who have not yet visited a Lush shop or prefer to shop online, my advice would be to get those little bums out to a store and prepare yourself for a sensory overload of goodness.
Though the doors of your local Lush, like with our Southampton store, you will enter a wonderland of smell, colour and texture.

The interior of the store is designed to be dedicated to displaying the products. Working as a neutral background, wood is the primary material for the furnishings and fixtures throughout. The soft, natural tones within the woods act as a backdrop to the vibrant colours of the products. The woods are also ethically sourced and act as a homely setting reminiscent of bathrooms and cabinets that can be found in our homes.

"The choice of materials used were inspired by the sustainable ethos of the brand and to create a platform to showcase the product without being over powering. All wood used in the construction is FSC certified. Reclaimed wood and vintage buys have been used in much of the furniture and any that isn't reclaimed is also FSC certified."

Throughout the store, the products speak for themselves. With no need for fancy visuals or enticing adverts. The design of the store is focused on putting the products into the spotlight.

The store is flowing with vibrant colours and smells. So much so, that you can smell the products when you are stood in the street outside the door, luring you to come in and enjoy the sensory ride.

The chalkboard themed branding starts on the packaging of the products, moves throughout the store onto the labelling and extends up to the ceiling- lining the top of the walls with vibrant, messages of enticement. Making us all want to relax and get fresh...

Oooh mamacitaaa, don't even get me started on the sampling!
One of my favourite concepts within the Lush store is the sampling. Display cases with samples of the products can be found throughout the store. Not only do they look divine, but you are able to get a feel of what you are buying. Sampling is an amazing idea as some of the products aren't cheap. Knowing what you are getting saves the dissapointment of purchasing a closed-packet product that just doesn't work for you. It's just a plus that the sample areas look gorgeous!

Walking into Lush feels like walking into a sweetshop filled with beauty-product-goodness. The styling and layout of the store lends itself to that familiar sight of sweets in jars that we used to see as children. Instead this time there are bowls of bath bombs bursting with colour and pattern waiting to entice us. This is always one of my immediate go-to areas of the store, usually surrounded by Sotonians hunting for their next fix of Intergalactic.

I mean, it really isn't our fault that we spend a large amount of our time and hard earned pennies in this dream land. A store so beautifully designed to capture and entice our senses, with products and ethics to match. It is a no-brainer that Lush is one of the most visited, blogged about and instgrammed companies around.

I'd like to round up with a massive thank you to the very lovely & welcoming staff in Lush Southampton for letting me bug them for the morning, photographing my way around their store. As a very new blogger, I was super nervous and you were super lovely.

So, now you know my weakness, whats your favourite Lush product? What do you love most about the lush store?
